Parva, as so far defined, has only two basic types (integer and Boolean) which are quite distinct from one another. Languages derived from C have another fundamental type char that is somewhat of a hybrid. In short, an expression containing integer and character operands is deemed to be of integer type unless it is composed of a single character operand.
