The settings are Manual, Automatic, Automatic (Delayed Start), and Disabled (see Figure 3-20). Manual requires an administrator to start the service. With the Automatic setting, the service starts at system boot. With the Automatic (Delayed Start) setting, the service starts a couple of minutes after all automatic services have started. If the startup type is Disabled, the service doesn’t start. Services that are already installed in Windows usually don’t require a change to the startup type; however, on occasion, you might want to disable a service you know isn’t used to save system resources.
