Discussion and discussion

PART 1:

Within your teams, submit an analysis of the BankCo Inc. case study.

The BankCo case study includes cross-disciplinary teams spread over a wide geographic area. As a team, compose a paper analyzing the case study and the tools used, opportunities for improvement, and communication channels.

Consider: What efficiencies or limitations did the cross-disciplinary team experience? Would BankCo be more effective if virtual teams were not used? What kinds of conflict were evident and how was this mitigated?

What are the requirements for effective communication or collaboration as evidenced in the case study?

It is expected that each team will equitably assign tasks to all members. The submission should include substantial input from all team members.

Please note: You will be submitting one file as a group for this assignment.

To complete this assignment, review the Case Study Rubric document.

PART 2;

For this discussion, locate a recent article (within the last two years) on cloud-based databases and summarize the main points of the article (one to two paragraphs), including any advantages and disadvantages of cloud-based databases. You are encouraged to use the databases from the Shapiro Library to find your article.

Next, based on your knowledge of the final project scenario, provide a recommendation to the business owners on whether they should use a cloud-based database (one paragraph on the main reasons for why they should or should not use it). Provide at least two reasons supporting your recommendation. Be sure to include the title and link to the article you are referring to in your post.

Subsequently, provide substantive responses to at least two of your classmates on their articles and recommendations. As you respond to your classmates, be sure your response addresses at least two of these items: costs, latency, connectivity, system complexity, transaction management, security/risk, and performance.

Note that you will be unable to see your peers’ posts until you submit your own post.

PART 3;

Your work on the student degree progress project in IT at Regatta University has run into a possible issue. During lunch with Bill, an IT employee outside of your team, you learn about a newly discovered security vulnerability on the team’s production server. IT is currently planning to run a software upgrade on the server this week to address this vulnerability. They cannot guarantee that there will not be any system downtime. Your project is not yet live, but there are ongoing tasks scheduled that may be impacted.

This update is out of your control; however, it is important that you notify your project manager and your team. You must email your project manager and your team with your concerns.

In this email, accomplish the following:

  • Notify management and your team of your findings in a clear and professional way.
  • Explain why this risk requires attention.
  • Provide an idea to your manager on how you could mitigate the impact that possible downtime could have.

In responding to peers, do you agree with their mitigation plans? Are there additional considerations that this risk may represent? This follow-up communication is important as your considerations may also identify additional risk or risk mitigation strategies that could benefit the team and the project as a whole.
